• Abstract:
  
  
  Shepherding ranks among the oldest activities in the history of mankind. Special traditions have developed in this area in the region of Karpaty. The social structure of the group carrying out this profession is reminiscent to that of a craft workshop. The article analyzes the process of preparing for carrying out of this profession. Special attention attention was paid to the role of Baca: a sort of master shepherd. You can read about the re-sponsibilities, skills, as well as role of Bacas in educating the next generation of shepherds. The article also touches on the transformation of vocational education in the field of shepherding that occurred in the second half of the 20th and early 21st century.

  Pasterstwo zaliczane jest do najstarszych zajęć w dziejach ludzkości. Szczególne tradycje wykształciły się w tej dziedzinie w Karpatach. Struktura społeczna grupy wykonującej ten zawód przypomina zdecydowanie strukturę warsztatu rzemieślniczego. W artykule dokonano analizy procesu przygotowania do wykonywania tego fachu. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono bacy, czyli mistrzowi pasterskiemu. Ukazane zostały jego obowiązki, umiejętno-ści, a także jego rola w edukowaniu kolejnych pokoleń pasterzy. Uwzględniono również transformację zawodo-wego kształcenia w zakresie pasterstwa, jaka nastąpiła w drugiej połowie XX i na początku XXI wieku.
