  For reflection on the educational potential of popular culture is interesting what is said in these texts and despite what critics think about it, they are not always trivial. Considering that one of the issues of the conference concerns the issue of utopia, the second part discusses the pop-cultural texts that illustrate the characteristic elements of utopia: burial of the “old world”, establishing a “perfect” order, protection against external destruction and protection against destruction from inside. Formed at different times and based on different means of expression, they talk about the dilemmas associated with thinking about a “better world”. They present the mechanisms and consequences of building a new society “with their own language”. The article presents a review of the novel of Polish science-fiction writer Stanisław Lem “Return from the Stars” and films “Pleasentville” (1998) directed by G. Ross and “Village” (2004) and M.N. Shyamalan.;
  
  
  
  Dla refleksji o edukacyjnym potencjale kultury popularnej interesujące jest, o czym opowiada się w jej tekstach, a wbrew temu, co sądzą o niej jej krytycy, nie zawsze są to sprawy banalne. W artykule omówione zostały popkulturowe teksty, które obrazują charakterystyczne elementy utopii: pogrzebanie „starego świata”, ustanowienie „doskonałego” porządku, zabezpieczenie przed destrukcją od zewnątrz oraz zabezpieczenie przed destrukcją od wewnątrz. Powstałe w różnym czasie i w oparciu o różne środki wyrazu, opowiadają o dylematach związanych z myśleniem o „lepszym świecie”. Przedstawiają „własnym językiem” mechanizmy oraz konsekwencje budowania nowego społeczeństwa. Analizie poddana została powieść polskiego pisarza science-fiction Stanisława Lema „Powrót z gwiazd” oraz filmy „Miasteczko Pleasentville” (1998) Garego Rossa i „Osada” (2004) M. Night Shyamalana.
