Problems of upbringing in relations between mothers and children as exemplified by contemporary Polish fiction

Abstract:

The eternal longing of educators was a dream of using the books to guide the thoughts and actions of pupils and shape them according to the established model. Examples of Polish prose for young readers presented in this paper, are images of difficult relationships between mothers and children. The selected books can drive strong emotions during the reading to both generations- the parents and children. These books are also for a common reading and for common “purification”. The author indicates certain patterns and “not- patterns” in the relationships of mothers with their children serving, for a large extent, a function of education (mother like “teenagers”, teenage mothers, frustrated mothers, adoptive mother).
