Pedagogical apprenticeship from the perspective participants – a report from research

Abstract:

The article presents the results of the research conducted using a survey questionnaire among current and former students of pedagogical faculties which prepare teachers of pre-school and/or early school education. In the course of the research project, students from various Polish universities were surveyed. The objectives of the study focused on self-reflection of apprentices on their preparation for the apprenticeship in terms of competencies, personality traits, as well as evaluation of the design and conduct of apprenticeship. The study also helped to identify the problems, strengths, needs and motivations of apprentices. The results give rise to some critical reflections about the model of pedagogical apprenticeship functioning within Polish higher education institutions that prepare preschool and early school educators.
