Abstract:

The author perceives the problem of the city in the thought and cultural awareness of modern civilisation. He analyses significant components of visual experience in the arrangement of urban space as well as refers to characteristic features of thinking about the city associated with all kinds of historical and contemporary „utopias”. A discussion on the utopian phenomenon occurring in the urban area of the city follows.
