Title:

Between finity and infinity- religniousness and the experience of the life world

Subject and Keywords:

philosophy of religion   psychology of religion   postsecularism   religiosity   religion   spirituality   sociology of religion

Abstract:

The social forms of traditional religiosity and the status of institutional religion have undergone a transformation in the 20th century. However, the inclination to mythological and metaphysical thinking seems to be a typical and constant factor of today’s human mind. These influence social and individual experiences in what goes beyond the empirical. One should be aware that looking at these selected topics (philosophical, religious or sociological) is actually addressing the question about human religiosity. The purpose of this paper, however, is not a systematic presentation of a variety of concepts in this field, but rather focuses on arguments against anti-religious thinking. This may provide us with interesting observations about the inclinations and conditionality of contemporary humanity.
