Title:

Atopia According to Autopojetic Systems Theory

Subject and Keywords:

atopia   utopia   dystopia   free market   Luhmann   Willke   autopojetic system   exterritorial society   society of knowledge

Description:

The subject of the article is the phenomenon of atopia – one of the possible social forms of the ‘real’ utopia that has emerged in the modern global world recently, followed by its derivations like dystopia and heterotopia. The paper consists of six parts: 1. The Smile of Cheshire Cat, 2. Phenomenon of Atopia, 3. Atopia according to Willke, 4. Atopia of Free Market, 5. Machines of Angels, 6. Exteriorization of Society. The main idea of the article is to describe and to consider the original concept of attitude to modern society study developed by Helmut Willke, a German professor in sociology at the University of Bielefeld. Atopia means primarily ‘no place’ and it always occurs as a form of social coexistence when the constitutive characteristics of utopia – the distance and the time – lose their relevance and disappear in the world of Internet and global digital satellite communication. But it has its consequences – it changes the man by creating a new status of knowledge, it generates a new meaning of a nation state and the world.
