Title:

Modern meaning and understanding of family by cohabiting couples

Subject and Keywords:

cohabitation   family   changes in family   definition of the family

Description:

The trajectories of the bonds of the contemporary family

Abstract:

In this article I am trying to perform an analysis of the family life experiences of cohabiting couples. I used narrative interviews done and recorded as part of doctoral dissertation about cohabiting relationships. The analysis of previous research results showed that cohabitation is a more theoretical construct than models implemented in real life, and experiencing cohabitation, in spite of universal knowledge, still remains vague. The phenomenological perspective that I have chosen, different from other ones in terms of methods and ways of research, allowed me to understand meanings, values and entities, which describe living in cohabitation. This study connects situational data with life experience data, and combines experiences in such a mode which reflects the fullness of human background.
