This paper analyzes peace operations conducted by international governmental organizations. The author explains some key terms that are usually applied to peace operations and the process of conflict resolution. Furthermore, the paper describes features and characteristics of peace operations carried out by the United Nations as well as regional organizations. In the last part of the article, the author presents some critical arguments on the general idea of peace operations and some arguments on the peacekeeping effectiveness.
