Abstract:

Human rights became the subject of practical activities of government organisations operating at international level following the Second World War. They are now among the statutory goals of national and regional government organisations, and are recognised as an issue of major significance. Contemporary international organisations have at their disposal a substantial number of relevant legal instruments on the one hand, while on the other, a vast range of control instruments for ensuring that states respect human rights. This article proposes a synthetic analysis of the regulatory, control and operational functions of government organisations operating at international level within the field of human rights.
