Abstract:

The dissertation addresses the history of Polish peasants living in Bosnia from the end of the 19th c. until their re-emigration to Boleslawiec in Lower Silesia after the Second World War and their life in a new place. It presents situation of peasants’ dialects in Western and Northern Territories with respect of state of Polish language of re-emigrants from Bosnia in context of original dialects, processes of language integration and influence of Serbian language. The main aim of the dissertation is to describe the re-emigrants’ dialects through interviews with them conducted and digitized between 2007 and 2011. The important part of the dissertation is in the lengthy phonetic records of interviews and how they represent the re-emigrants’ language and their unique historical experience.
