Abstract:

Children of early school age are usually eager to come to school and start learning with enthusiasm. They listen attentively and follow the teacher’s instructions diligently. On the other hand, the child’s attention span is still impermanent. It is natural that they cannot fulfil all school duties initially. Additionally, in the first years of schooling, young students do not yet have the habit of learning independently, either at school, or at home. Therefore, parents are of great importance in the proper shaping of this habit and a consistent and at the same time rational, i.e., appropriate in terms of upbringing, approach to this issue. School homework is one of the elements of a uniform learning process. Therefore, it is not an “addition” to the school learning of students, as it often occurs in practical didactic and educational activities, but it is an integral element of this learning. When a child begins its adventure with school, it needs the support of those who give it a sense of security. It is important for a parent to be present at important moments at school and to be interested in what is happening in the student’s life, including homework. So, it is obvious that parents can and should help their child with home schooling. The aim of the article is to present the possibilities of parents’ involvement in helping younger school children with their homework
