Abstract:

The main aim of the article is to present the various barriers and limitations that women face in thelabor market. The starting point is the industrial revolution and women’s unpaid labor. Other important elements discussed in the article are the negative effects of the system transformation, whichwomen still feel today, i.e., fulfilling the dual role of a housewife and an employee. Then, the articlepresents various barriers that women face in their careers. Terms that are of particular importance inthis article are “glass ceiling”, “escalator”, “sticky floor” and “token status”. Another significantaspect is related to the question of power and management. Women who have overcome the limitations and thus sit in managerial positions must always adapt the masculine style of management.  

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie głównych ograniczeń napotykanych przez kobiety na rynkupracy. Punkt wyjścia stanowi rewolucja przemysłowa oraz nieodpłatna praca kobiet. Kolejnym ważnym elementem są negatywne skutki transformacji ustrojowej, które kobiety odczuwają do dziś –przede wszystkim odgrywanie podwójnej roli gospodyni domowej i pracownicy. Następnie zostajeprzedstawiony szereg barier, napotykanych przez kobiety na drodze ich kariery zawodowej. Pojęciami, które mają szczególne znaczenie w artykule, są: „szklany sufit”, „ruchome schody”, „lepkapodłoga” oraz „status tokena”. Innym znaczącym aspektem jest władza i sposób zarządzania. Wartobowiem zastanowić się, czy kobiety, które pokonały szereg ograniczeń i, co za tym idzie, znajdująsię na stanowiskach kierowniczych, muszą zawsze przyswajać męski styl zarządzania.
