Abstract:

The article covers the application of the comparative method in the field od history of law. The first part of the work is a reference to some basic issues related to comparative studies. The second part concerns the application of the comparative method in research concerning the history of law. In the third part of the work, to prove points mentioned above, the author briefly presents the specificity of the Japanese legal system and (also very briefly) discusses the similarities and differences between the monarch's position in the Constitution of the Great Japanese Empire and the Constitution of the Kingdom of Prussia.
