Abstract:

In this article the author describes a relatively complicated and controversial issue of the use of hyperlinks (internet links), i.e. a situation in which illegally published material (a piece of work, image, false information) already functions in public domain (online), and the role of a given internet user is “only” limited to sharing that material. Simply put, activities of an internet user come down to pointing to a location of certain data, which, as a result, leads to actual permitting other internet users to get familiar with the data. The purpose of the present article is to answer the question whether such an internet user is sharing legally protected goods. If so, are they at risk of being held liable for such an activity?
