The aim of the article is to critically analyze the determinants of taking personal responsibility of people for their own health, length and quality of life. The considerations focus on rational and behavioral factors influencing people’s responsibility for their health. Knowledge about human behavior is analyzed in the context of knowledge about the operation of the brain. The content of the article refers to the discoveries of the human circadian rhythm and its relationship with health and quality of life. The influence of the family and social environment on the behavior of individual people is analyzed. Social factors and ways of individual education throughout life are also discussed. The message of the article is to emphasize the importance of responsibility for one’s own health and its impact on the length and quality of human life. Apart from discussing the principles of personal responsibility for health, methods of support from the environment, including education of pupils and students, were indicated.
