Abstract:

This study is aimed not only at developing a profile of the magazine, but also at attempting to show and systematize the guidelines for the family upbringing of children and the youth, which were extensively addressed in the columns of the magazine. An important objective is also to complement the existing research achievements in the area of upbringing of children and the youth in the early twentieth century. This text also serves to present the amount of share of women’s magazines (for example, „Dobra Gospodyni” [The Good Housewife]) in providing parents (mostly mothers) with assistance and advice in area of the upbringing of the younger generation.  

Przygotowywane opracowanie ma na celu nie tyle charakterystykę samego czasopisma, co próbę ukazania i usystematyzowania wskazówek dotyczących wychowania w rodzinie, adresowanych w głównej mierze do kobiet–matek, która zajmowała na jego stronach stosunkowo wiele miejsca. Istotnym celem jest także uzupełnienie istniejącego już dorobku badawczego dotyczącego wychowania dzieci i młodzieży na początku XX wieku. Tekst ten służy także ukazaniu, jaki był udział prasy kobiecej (na przykładzie „Dobrej Gospodyni”) w służeniu pomocą i radą w wychowaniu młodego pokolenia (szczególnie w rodzinach inteligenckich, zamożnych i średniozamożnych, do których adresowane było czasopismo).
