TY - GEN A1 - Węcławski, Michał N2 - The work is an attempt to grasp and describe the issue of mystery in two aspects: a problem which one thinks about and a situation which one experiences. The three main goals are: to deepen the un-derstanding of the mystery and some of related issues; to indicate a philosophical attitude that favors speaking about mystery; to show that mystery is a useful concept in philosophical reflection. The dis-sertation consists of an introduction, nine chapters divided into three independent parts, a conclusion, two indexes (names and subjects), and a bibliography. Due to the immanent ambiguity of the title concept, as well at the multitude of threads it suggests, the discourse runs in multiple directions. Examination of seemingly secondary problems makes it possible to draw a broad background against which the issue of mystery becomes apparent. The same is also attained by the analysis of the philosophies of Lev Shestov and Gabriel Marcel in the form of two case studies which both introduce to and comment on the third part of the work.
