 abstract={The Bundestag election of 2017 brought about significant changes on the German political scene. It was undoubtedly affected by the refugee crisis which deepened and accelerated the transformation of the German party system that has been going on since the 1980s. Large traditional parties such as SPD or CDU/CSU lost some of their electorate. Simultaneously, for the first time since the war, a nationalist party – populist Alternative for Germany – has been able to gain seats in the parliament. The consequence of that was a deadlock resulting from the inability to form the government at the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018. Although Polish matters were not key in the campaign, they were, nevertheless, mentioned by top politicians. Polish elements could be found in party programmes and manifestos, as well as in the coalition agreement of Christian and Social Democrats in February, 2018. The content of those documents may form the basis for the future relations of Poland and Germany. The article makes an overview of different attitudes towards Poland presented by German political parties and their representatives during the election campaign of 2017 and the coalition talks. The source material for the article consists mainly of the statements made by key German politicians, party and election manifestos, as well as opinions of political commentators, many of which appeared particularly in the press.},
