 abstract={This approach claims that the business network, in which each subsidiary as well as its parent fi rmis embedded, is a specifi c network of business relationships, which are more or less distinct from thenetwork of other subsidiaries. Since each subsidiary identifi es just the problems and opportunitiesin its own business network, it tends to strive either for autonomy or to infl uence other parts of theenterprise in a direction that supports the development of its own business. The underlying theme inthe business network theory is that any fi rm is affected most by its own business environment ratherthat by its institutional environment, and this is equally true of the subsidiaries in an internationalenterprise},
