The analyses refer to both feminist literature and various sociological approaches to utopia. Three interpretive perspectives were used. The first relates to the essentialist approach to gender and absolute gender binarism. The essence of the second perspective is postgenderism, which aims to abolish gender categories, both in thought and social practice. The third perspective, on the other hand, refers to the assumptions of liberal ideology along with the idea of (initial) meritocratic equality between men and women. The discussion concludes that utopias – however not socially constructed and imbued with ideology – are necessary; as an idea and an alternative frame of reference for existing reality. Furthermore, of course, this also applies to the problem of (in)equality of women.}, type={text}, doi={10.34616/149600}, keywords={utopia, gender inequality, feminist literature, ideology}, }
