 abstract={The presented doctoral thesis will be devoted to the role played by space in the processof shaping the superpower position of Russia. In this work, the discussed phenomenon isunderstood as a combination of tangible and intangible elements, to which people attach aspecific meaning. The aim of this thesis is to examine how this factor has enabled in the pastand enables today the creation and strengthening of Russia’s strong and internationally significant position. The analysis will focus on spaces made up of both tangible and intangible elements. The thesis will consider especially the intangible types of space due to their dominant role in the discussed process after 1945. A review of Russia's actions in this regardwill be made within the aforementioned timeframe, as this period saw a reconfiguration of theroles played by individual types of space in favour of an increase in the importance of theintangible options.},
