The aim of the presented paper is the analysis of using the European Social Fund on the labor market via the example of Poland, especially the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Undoubtedly, the status of the use of the ESF means in Poland, that it allows to start the research which aims at providing answers to vital questions bothering nearly all institutions and persons directly or indirectly engaged in distribution of EU funds. What is the scope of European Social Fund intervention? What is the impact of the EFS on local and regional labor markets? How is the effectiveness of spending such funds measured? The author of the paper attempts to answer some of these questions.
