The term success is perceived in perspective of a few, chosen psychological concepts, mainly the theory of needs and self-knowledge. The perception of success in professional development and prophylaxis of burn-out in teachers’ profession seems to play a crucial role. With reference to empirical studies, the perception of success is a factor maintaining and strengthening professional activity. Consequently achieving success and attributing it to own activity and competence may protect from burn-out. The attribution of success discriminates at different stages of professional development.
