 abstract={Currently, people with disabilities have greater opportunities to improve their professional and social situation. However, though the perception of them is changing, it is still full of stereotypes and barriers. This is still a group at risk of social exclusion. One of the solutions to the problem is the social economy sector, combining economic and social activities. This article covers the following issues: 1. The concept of disability and its evolution; 2. The concept of disability in international and Polish law; 3. The concept of social economy, social economy entities and social enterprise; 4. Examples of people with disabilities active in the social economy. The main goal of the article is to present specific examples of people with disabilities operating in the social economy sector, who, thanks to their energy and perseverance, despite barriers to the accessibility of public space, create entities conducting effective economic and social activities.},
