abstract={The requirement for the provision of legal services by attorneys and legal advisors, affiliated with compulsory professional self-governments, is a peculiar constitutional principle of the Republic of Poland and a doctrinally unchallenged element of economic reality. The purpose of the analysis is to identify, based on the methodology of the Austrian school, the economic effects of the current regulation particularly through the prism of the system of incentives and motivations it constructs, affecting the the proffesion of attorney-at-law and influencing economic decisions as an individual operating in the market. As the author points out, the practical implementation of the principles of protection of the public interest and the restrictions to which the profession of legal counsel is subjected significantly violate economic efficiency, ignoring to some extent the motivation flowing therefrom, and having a positive impact on economic activity in this field, hindering at the same time the achievement of some of the goals of the law. The author concludes the analysis with the legislative proposals.},
