As she expressed herself through poems, essays and speeches, her voice was a weapon used against the discrimination of black women. She challenged the way white feminists perceived women of colour and fought for the cease of a narrow, exclusionary narrative in the discourse of feminism coming from the ones with more privilege. She emphasised the importance of difference in the society, claiming that only after understanding how particular discriminated groups differ from one another, we are able to fully face and overcome many aspects of oppression, as it isn’t something that can be treated in a uniform manner. Therefore, Lorde’s essays are especially educating in the field of intersectional oppression. In the article, the author examines the main pillars of Audre Lorde’s theories in the context of her most influential book, Sister Outsider, outlining the activist’s thoughts on such matters as the source of discrimination towards black women, institutional oppression and self-care as an act of political protest. In the final part the author debates whether Lorde’s work can serve as any guideline in relation to modern social problems.}, title={Oprócz siostrzeństwa istnieje jeszcze rasizm: poglądy Audre Lorde w kontekście praw kobiet i dyskryminacji intersekcjonalnej}, type={text}, doi={https://doi.org/10.34616/150689}, keywords={Audre Lorde, women’s rights, intersectional discrimination, feminism, revolution}, }
