 abstract={“A Poem for Adults” by Adam Ważyk functions in school historical education as a historical source determining the history of People’s Poland, and an idea around which the country’s image has been shaped. To understand these functions of Ważyk’s poem, one needs to know the basic facts from his biography, preceding the time of writing “A Poem…” (that he was the main ideologist of socialist realism in Polish literature), and some of his fundamental statements in relation to his reaction to the effects his poem had brought about (for example – rejection of its ideological genesis).},
