 abstract={The purpose of this article is to discuss the effectiveness of school history education from the perspective of both the contemporary didactics and the goals of nation-states. Based on the assumption that history education is and will remain a matter of nation-states, the article compares Polish and German models of history education in terms of the realization of the main goal of education, which for nation-states is the desired identity formation in citizens. According to the author, both analyzed models exhibitweaknesses that prevent them from fully achieving this goal.},
