 abstract={The issue of balancing the transmission of research-based knowledge with the teaching the students historical thinking and historical methods, as well as achieving intended learning outcomes, is an important teaching problem. Across the changing trends of the past decades, one could distinguish successive phases with a focus on the dominance of knowledge, followed by the supremacy of learning objectives, up to the reign of the requirements standards. However, the examination requirements developed and presented for 2023 are characterized by the dominance of the reproduction of knowledge rather than the possession of skills, which contradicts the general objectives of history education in the field of analysis and interpretation and, in particular, the premise that a student should be able to analyze historical events, phenomena and processes in the context of eras, notice the interrelationships between different areas of social life, as well as recognize the multiplicity of research perspectives and various interpretations of history and their causes.},
