 abstract={In March 2015, members of the European Union signed a declaration affirming that the fundamental values for the European Union such as respect for human dignity, freedom (including freedom of expression), democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights should be the foundation of European education. As a result, a professional development program for teachers has been launched to support and promote the teaching of controversial topics in schools in Europe. The article discusses the absence of these issues in history teaching in Polish primary and secondary schools, identifying the need for their inclusion.},
