abstract={The article demonstrates an overview of sociological research conducted in France regarding the emotional and sexual life of young people. Youth, initially defined in the context of adult roles (people with an active professional life, spouses, parents, etc.), used to be perceived negatively as a ‘latency period’, the time of suspended expectations and of experimenting. The intimate life of young people used to be interpreted as a “sexual youth” interspersed with extramarital experiences that were caused by an inability to be stable through a marriage.},
