  The article analyses the growing popularity of women’s erotic literature based on the example of E. L. James novel titled Fifty Shades of Grey. The author of this article indicates that the current interpretations of popularity of women’s erotic literature are insufficient, and proposes his own perspective on the phenomenon, one that relies on the cultural codes accompanying the process of changing the patterns of sexuality in the Western culture. The development and high popularity of women’s erotic literature is the result of changes in the perception, and the experiencing, of sexuality.;
  
  
  
  W artykule poddano analizie wzrastającą popularność kobiecej literatury erotycznej na przykładzie powieści Pięćdziesiąt twarzy Greya E. L. James. Autor wskazuje, że dotychczasowe interpretacje popularności kobiecej literatury erotycznej są niewystarczające, proponuje własną perspektywę interpretacji zjawiska w powiązaniu z kulturowymi kodami towarzyszącymi procesowi przemian zjawiska seksualności w kulturze Zachodu. Rozwój i duża popularność kobiecej literatury erotycznej są rezultatem przemian postrzegania i doświadczania seksualności.
