 abstract={The purpose of the article is to analyse the following organisations: the Council of Europe, the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the European Union, the Organization of American States, the African Union, and other regional organisations in the context of their activities for the promotion of democracy and the rule of law. Critical analysis of their activities based not only on the study of documents, declarations, resolutions, but also on the examination of the political context, the interests of individual Member States having a decisive influence on the decisions taken within the framework of international organizations. Summary includes the conclusions about the efficiency barriers in the area of the promotion of democracy and the rule of law by the international actors.},
